The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why It Matters, by Priya Parker
Raise your hand if you’ve been in a meeting that could have been an email? Or if you’ve attended yet another fundraising event with the same silent auction / dinner / program with terrible audio / rinse and repeat. Am I right?
This book was highlighted on Joan Garry’s blog (What? You aren’t reading Joan Garry’s blog? Go here now.) and I’ve simply fallen in love with the book. If your board meetings are starting to look like tryouts for the Yawning Olympics or your donor appreciations events are….well, depreciating – break out this book and gain a fresh perspective on what happens when we try to put more than two people in a room together. It’s a gamechanger, or maybe a gathering-changer. Either way, I think you’ll enjoy it.
